Liwia (Liv) is a recent MSc in International Relations graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her dissertation, “From Nuclear Weapons to Artificial Intelligence: Lessons in Strategic Stability” explored the effects of artificial intelligence on strategic stability, drawing parallels from the Cold War era nuclear weapons race to make policy recommendations about the nascent technology. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to her involvement with Global Weekly, Liv served on the editorial board for Millennium: Journal of International Studies.
Her research interests include sub-Saharan Africa, international security, as well as contemporary global issues (artificial intelligence, nuclear, and outer space). She is currently studying the potential effects of artificial intelligence on space and military applications, including their ethical implications. Liv also has several publications, including “The Realities of Mitumba,” and “Precolonial West Africa: A Globalised World.”
