Toe Pyae (TP) Naing

Desk Analyst - Indo-Pacific

TP is a final-year BA Politics and International Relations student at SOAS, University of London, having so far focused on Chinese politics and foreign policy of the Middle East during their studies and now aims to specialise in Southeast Asia and the wider Indo-Pacific region.

Hailing from Myanmar (Burma), politics has always been an interest to them but the country’s gradual opening to the global stage through liberalisation has significantly increased their attention towards geopolitics, especially centred on the rising proxy conflict in Southeast Asia between China and the US.

Their geopolitical research sphere has also extended towards the international relations of so-called “bridge nations” or countries geographically situated between two culturally different regions like Türkiye. They intend to explore these multiple interests in-depth at Global Weekly.
